Zipline From the Top of the Rainforest!
The Los Suenos Resort in Costa Rica has no end of a few things: many restaurants, a championship 18 hole golf course with holes in the rainforest, and on the ocean – yes, many monkeys and marcaws, golf carts available for kids to zip around in on the resort, a child’s program for kids age 4 to 12, and a zillion water sports.
You have to understand that this is a huge compound – 1100 acres of a resort which includes the Marriot hotel as part of its facility, and that is definitely only part of it. You can see why children have golf carts to ride around in. There is a 600 acre rainforest in this resort, as well as 500 first class accommodations in addition to the Marriott’s 201 rooms which are five star. The 500 other accommodations include villas, condos, private homes, etc. Beautifully appointed accommodations though the Marriott is described as lovely but standard. I would choose one of the other types in the resort instead.
People definitely recommend going all-inclusive at this resort. The restaurants range from relaxed to very classy, so choose what you feel like and leave the rest behind. LaVista keeps getting rave breakfast reviews. The beach is just beyond the pools, and did I mention the pool is a huge meandering river only man-made?
If you rent a car, include the GPS because the roads can be confusing to say the least. It is definitely recommended that you leave the rentals alone this time and just stick with shuttles, buses and taxis which will take you the five miles into town. If you do take a car, travel during daytime and not at night when you are likely to be especially lost.
You can explore the Waterfalls Canopy Tour, Discovery Horseback riding, rafting, or head to an incredibly beautiful beach, the Manuel Antonio beach, which is 1.25 hours away driving. You can charter a fishing boat at the resort marina and see the whales, sea turtles, dolphins and much more, or collect sand dollars at Playa Bejuco, half an hour away. The Canopy Tour is a tram that takes you to the height of the rain forest, after which you zipline down. The unusual options to choose from make this family resort even more fun.
One tip – pay for the departure tax at the hotel, which helps you avoid airport delays. Tax per person is 25.00 so pay up, in order to leave Costa Rica!
Tip Two – pay for your green fees online at teetimecostarica, a tip which can save you 100.00 in green fees – you’ll spend around 51.00 instead. Not bad.
