Southern California Beaches

Southern California beaches entice people of all over the world. You can’t just visit without stopping to see one of the great beaches. Better yet if you at least dip your toes in the water.
If you have other plans besides the beach, and you can only visit one at the most, you may have a hard time knowing which one to see. Depending on what you like doing well help you make your choice.
For example, if you like to surf, you should definitely go to Huntington Beach. This beach holds over 50 surfing competitions annually. There is also a Surfing Walk of Fame, Surfers’ Hall of Fame and International Surfing Museum. If you like surfing or just like learning about surfing, this is your spot.
If you don’t have your surfboard or boogie board with you there are places to rent one in Huntington Beach. The pier is also great place to go, especially if you like to watch other surfers. Some of the other views you can take in include Catalina Island which is 22 miles away. If you want to get a closer look you can find the pay scopes just on the pier.
Another cool thing about the Huntington Beaches is that there are concrete fire rings. So if you want to have a bonfire or a cookout, there is a designated spot for them.
One of the other Southern California beaches that is known for surfing is Swami’s Beach. This beach is located in Encinitas below Seacliff Roadside Park. This spot is recognized as one of the best surfing locations in San Diego County.
If relaxation is your game, you will want to visit Zuma/Point Dume. Obviously, you can sit and relax on any Southern California beach, by these beaches are the place to escape to if you are near Los Angeles. Point Dume and Zuma beaches are about 19 miles west of Malibu.
Of the two beaches, Point Dume is a tad quieter. So if you are looking to read a good book or just fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean, this is the better of the two places to go. Some people like Zuma as another surfing place.
People watching is a fun past-time for some. If you want an interesting people watching experience, you should go to Venice City Beach. This is at the end of Washington Street in Venice. There are all sorts of performers, skaters, and just plain interesting people.
Sometimes you can even find musicians, acrobats, mimes, magicians, and other entertainments. There are also great shops and restaurants. If you like mixing with crowds, this is definitely where you would like to go.
If you like doing things out of the water, Santa Monica State Beach is a terrific place to go. Sometimes you can get too much relaxation and want to do something else. Santa Monica Beach is great because there is the Pacific Park and the pier.
There are all sorts of restaurants, rides, and games to keep the whole family entertained. Boredom is not achieved easily here. Some of the rides that you and your family can enjoy include a carousel, roller coaster, bumper cars, motion simulator, and Ferris wheel. You can also enjoy the paved paths along the beach if you like to bicycle or roller blade.
