Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater Florida
Sandpearl Resort is a new luxury resort on Clearwater Beach. This stretch of white powder sand stretches along the Gulf of Mexico and provides memories for families through generations. This resort has been established with families in mind, but there are some complaints in this department.
Children’s Activities: Camp Ridley, from 9 am to 4 pm, for children age 5 to 11. . There is a different theme each day, such as Saturdays are Pirates and Mermaids, Wednesdays are Super Sea Turtles, etc. The price indicates 90.00 for a full day including lunch. This is ridiculously expensive. A half day with lunch is 50.00. This is per day, not per week, in addition to your accommodation costs.
What I am impressed with are the number of other activities for families and individuals. Okay, so they name them Enrichment Programs, but they look really fantastic for families to be participating in. Activities include Dolphin Trainer Experience at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium shadowing professional dolphin trainers for feedings and training sessions. Wade With Dolphins allows you to get into the water and interact with them. Another day has something similar only you get to play with Winter, the dolphin who has no tail, and is world famous. Sea Life Safari for a two hour ride to a shell island, where you’ll also be pulling up marine creatures, observe them in an aquarium on the boat, and then set them back in the ocean. A Kayaking tour for two hours through waterways, fitness programs, environmental tours, and more. Check ahead of booking to inquire as to what is available, as the activities are seasonal. One reviewer mentioned there wasn’t a lot for children to do. Considering all that is listed, check into what is available for sure if that is your concern.
There is a lagoon style pool, private cabanas at the pool area, beach activities, complete fitness center, concierge and valet, and more.
Accommodations: these are new and lovely and luxurious. There are one and two bedroom suites, with fully functional kitchens, laundry, private balconies, and depending on which one you book, you are facing either Mandalay Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, or both. There are also spacious standard rooms.
Rates: Checking for Easter holidays starting Easter Sunday April 4, and departing Saturday April 10, for two adults and two children, the cheapest room was 369.00 per night, and the suites started at 459.00 per night and kept going up. Cheap this is not. If you keep scrolling down you’ll see Resort Escapes which offer breakfast with the package, and it appears to have an additional 50.00 resort credit per night. I would look through Expedia which also has 87 reviews of this place up, and see what rates are like compared to the site rates. They have to be better somewhere.
Dining: I appreciate the fact that they list their menu items online. This gives those with allergies and picky eaters in the clan a chance to view what might be served up that week, though I’m sure they change menus with some frequency. There is the Tate Island Grill, the Caretta on the Gulf Restaurant, and The Marketplace to saunter to in the mornings for Starbucks and fresh breakfast items. One reviewer mentioned that there is a cheap restaurant right across from the hotel if you want good food at a better price.
Reviews: almost all rave reviews about this resort. The staff and service are fabulous for the most part, and people feel very pampered, which they should for these prices. It is ranked #2 of 115 hotels in the Clearwater area. Someone was kind enough to remind us not to book Sandpearl Residences like they did – make sure it is Sandpearl Resort. The 15.00 per day resort service charge irks everyone it seems. For families it is recommended you keep it to one week instead of two due to what is available for activities, something to remember if you are looking specifically for Florida family beach vacations. People recommend booking Gulf Front rooms/suites, not Gulf View rooms if you want to take advantage of the full panorama by the sea.
The beach is of course incredible. You may love this area so much you decide to purchase a Sandpearl residence next door.
