Ocho Rios Beaches Resort Jamaica
Ocho Rios Jamaica is one of those destinations that provide activities for families, but in more sedate and peaceful settings. There are a lot of couples who travel here, but for families wanting to try out Jamaica, there is the beautiful Beaches Boscobel Resort. From this base, you can branch out to try canopy swinging in the trees, horse back riding on the beach, riding ATVs and climbing out at Dunn’s River Falls, which is approximately 600 feet up.
Beaches Boscobel Resort is located on the northern coast of Jamaica. It offers its own private beach, an all-inclusive golf package for kids, the Pirates Island Waterpark with a lazy river, a pool just for scuba diving practice, three other gorgeous pools, five restaurants and a lot of gardens – 22 acres actually. There are glass bottom boat rides, canoes, kayaks, hydro bikes, sail boats, snorkelling, weekly events, themed nights and lots of other land and water activities. Height requirement for the waterslides is 4 feet (1.2 metres tall) for children.
Kids have a children’s club, a staffed nursery for infants, 11 waterslides, and a lot of other extras. If you are planning on keeping your children away from pop and ice cream, think again as there is self-serve machines for both.
One of the significant bonuses of staying here for golf lovers is the unlimited rounds of golf and green fees at their golf course with four stars by Golf Digest.
Best of all is the beach and water and surroundings all kept in a secluded area by cliffs.
There are lots of specials here, with up to 60 percent off so it is worth taking a look at, especially with renovations complete. You can choose from twelve different room styles and with the specials they have on, you may find a deluxe apartment for a steal. An example is the Penthouse Oceanview One Bedroom Suite. It was 1205.00 per adult per night, and has availability at the sweet discount down to 482.00 per adult per night, and 48.00 per child per night. An ocean front terrace suite is going for 277.00 per night per adult, compared to an original price of 677.00 per adult per night – occupancy up to 4 people. Prices go down even more on other family suites, as in 217.00 per adult per night. This is an expensive family beach vacation, but with huge discounts, and it also offers the 7th night free.
Things to know: you should be flying into Montego International airport, and plan for a 90 minute airport transfer ride to the resort on an air conditioned bus, or you can arrange for a private car through the resort’s travel agent or through the resort itself.
There is no tipping except for those who have hired a personal butler.
There is a babysitting service available at extra charge.
Check out their $250.00 airfare credit before booking.
Wheelchair accommodations: it is not stating it from what I’ve observed, so call for information.
There are balconies for every suite except for one that has a terrace.
Reviews: There have been lots of good to great reviews. There are some disturbing reviews lately though that make me wonder if the place is not running as it should , considering this resort was one of the top ten in a parent’s magazine. Even the penthouse with renovations was deemed as fine but not wonderful. In the off season not all the restaurants are open, and if this is the norm, then also look into the other services you are expecting prior to booking. I mean who wants to spend the money and time planning this vacation, only to find that the kids club is not open or there is no babysitting. So check like you check everything else before spending a lot of money.
