Luxury Pole House in the Costa Rican Rainforest
The houses or units are built on poles in the rainforest of Costa Rica, one kilometer from the Caribbean Sea. Just because they are up on stilts does not mean you’ll be roughing it. There are Jacuzzis encased by glass windows in each house, from which you can watch the jungle around you as you soak, a kitchen, master bedroom, porch, living room with a sleeping sofa, beautiful bathrooms, safe, great mattresses, hanging chairs and air conditioning for an additional charge, though you’ll find a well ventilated climate due to the shade of the rainforest.
The owners at El Arbol have blended the simplicity of nature with the beauty of the interiors, taking into account the rain forest and the customer simultaneously.
If you are up for an adventure for your family beach vacation, this is it. You and your family will never forget this one. On this Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife refuge, the wildlife is not far away. Monkeys, over 100 types of birds, sloths, and many more species will keep you mesmerized. After spending a day on a beautiful beach, there is night life about nine miles away, or a massage to soothe you into a peaceful sleep.
The kitchens are fully equipped and there are small grocery stores close by. Manzanillo has many restaurants to take that concern off your shoulders if you just want to relax.
What else to do? Well, you can immerse yourself in waterfalls, horseback riding, dolphin watching tours, kayaking, diving, scuba certification, see an animal rescue clinic, have a guided tour through Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, visit a butterfly garden, go on quad tours, fishing and iguana tours. The options are very extensive and with the unique setting you may all refer to this as your best family vacation yet.
As this is their first year, a special is going until November 2010, for $110.00 per night. After that, I wouldn’t want to even guess what it might be going up to. The houses accommodate four people with two bedrooms. The drive from the airport will take about 4.5 hours if you fly into San Jose, but if you fly into Limon, you’ll be 1.5 hours to Manzanillo.
Check out their website under Contact tab, for really extensive, well-detailed directions and options for getting there. In addition, there are five buses leaving from San Jose daily to Manzanillo.
