Kauai, Hawaii

I met an instructor for a driver skid-training course who raved about his
yearly trip to Kauai in Hawaii. It was not a touristy spot compared to
other Hawaii destinations, but there is more than that as a reason to visit
Kauai.
Kauai is about 20 minutes by air from Honolulu. It is the oldest and most northern island of Hawaii. This is the area of summer surfers, for those interested in less noise and
more privacy, less commercialism and more enjoyment of basics. Poipu Beach
Park is the ploce to go for surfing, and if you’re a newbie to this and decided
to try it for your 40th birthday or more, here’s the place to try it without
feeling so self-conscious. You can rent a soft board for 5.00 per hour, the kind
of boards perfect for beginners, or for 80.00 you can rent a fibreglass board
for the entire week, not bad instead of worrying about one in cargo.Nuikumoi
Surf Company rents these and also will happily sign you up for lessons.

Accommodation: The Poipu Plantation resort will not set you back as pretty a penny as some places. Rates start at 125.00 for a one bedroom suite with a garden view. There are various units, some with kitchenettes, which is so valuable to your pocket book when trying to evaluate whether a trip is worth looking into during these days of re-evaluating where your dollar is being spent. The resort is 200 yards from the ocean and Brenecke’s beach and Poipu Beach Park. There are rest room and shower facilities, pavillions and picnic areas at the park, ocean gear across the road, a deli and restaurant, and did I mention snorkeling, scuba diving, seeing the endangered Green Sea Turtle.

There are many beautiful resorts to stay at, and you can doubtless find those
easily on the web, but for those looking for some better deals, keep reading.

The Kauai Inn starts at 89.00 and up for April 16 – 18, which is where the prices for all these accommodations will be zeroed in on – the time people are more prone to take their first holiday during Easter break. This inn does not have kitchenettes, and the décor is basic, but the price is right. It is apparently the first inn on Kauai, so its been around for 100 years. Situated on the southeastern side of Kauai, it is a shorter drive to the Lihue airport and by Numilu Beach Park. The location by the bay is your ticket to waking up to ocean breezes and keeping your fingers off anything technologically oriented so you can be revitalized by the beauty of the surroundings, including a lush tropical setting, areas to hike, a helicopter ride to see the falls, or just staying on the beach to try anything or nothing if you please.

The Kauai Sands Hotel is on the eastern side of Kauai. Rates start at 85.00 which is an incredible rate. Situated on a mile-long beach with the white sparkling sand, 200 rooms on 6 acres, tennis courts next door, horse back riding 10 minutes from the hotel, historic Kapaa town 2 miles away, with all kinds of shops and places to eat. Most of the beach sports are available and the rooms are basic but there are kitchenettes, deluxe and standard rooms and for this price, and the beauty outside, I think its worth looking into.

Poipu and Princeville are far more busy for tourists. Princeville is on the north side however, Poipu on the south. Poipu has more of a combination of upscale and moderately and affordably priced accommodation.
The beaches on this south shore are beautiful, with more sun included for your buck.

For a family, the Kauai Country Inn has now provided the country cottage, to
Better suit a family with young children. It’s a three bedroom cottage starting at 315.00 per night, so not cheap. There are also four executive style suites. With kitchenettes and privacy of the layout, you may decide it is worth putting out
the money for. Visit Travelocity for Hawaii Vacation Deals
